Himachal Pradesh is located in
Northwestern part of India in the lap of the Great Himalayas. It is bordered
by Jammu and Kashmir in the North, Punjab in the West, Haryana and
Uttaranchal in the South and Tibet in the East .
Himachal Pradesh is a tiny hill state whose pleasant summers make it a
popular holiday resort. There are various hill retreats here like Shimla,
Mashobra, Kufri, Naldehra; those around Kullu-Manali include Manikaran,
Naggar and Brighu Lake; the barely accessible valleys of Lahaul and Spiti
are a trekkers delight.
Manali : Manali is a marvellous
hill station which offers wonderful sights of thick forests and mesmerising
snow covered mountain peaks. Manali is a superb spot for a spending leisure
hours, a most preferable resort for trekkers to Lahaul, Spiti, Kinnaur, Leh
and Zanskar regions in Kashmir valley.
Shimla : This is the greatest of
all the hill resorts in the state. Adorned with snow clad mountain peaks,
pine covered hills and grasslands full of wild flowers, Manali pulls lakhs
of tourist every season.
Dalhousie : It is a serene hill
retreat with its distinctive flavour. Beautiful cottages and villas cling to
the Deodar and Pine mantled mountains offering a picture worth carrying in
the hearts forever.
Dharamashala : This is the
headquarter of the Dalai Lama in India which attracts millions of tourists
every year. One cannot fail to admire the captivating beauty of the place
which offers great opportunities for trekking and excursions.
