Kashmir, situated on the northern
borders of India and Pakistan is officially known as Jammu & Kashmir.
The state is famous for its natural beauty and has often been referred to as
the 'Switzerland of the East'. The heart of the area is the fertile Vale of
Kashmir (known as The Valley), which lies between the Himalayas and the Pir
Panjal mountain range.
The State of Jammu and Kashmir comprises three distinct Climatic regions
viz. Arctic cold desert areas of Ladakh, temperate Kashmir valley and
sub-tropical region of Jammu. The state is blessed with the natural beauty
and confines gigantic mountains, perennial rivers and beautiful lakes. A
happy combination of the mighty splendor of mountains, of lovely glades and
forests, Jammu & Kashmir is home to abundant number of flora &

Srinagar : Located in the heart
of the Kashmir valley at an altitude of 1,730 m above sea level, the city
spreads on both sides of the river Jhelum. The Dal and Nagin lakes enhance
its picturesque setting, and the lovely climate attract visitors all the
year round.
Ladakh : Bounded on the two sides
by the mighty ranges the Himalayas and the Karakoram, Ladakh is a mysterious
land shrouded in myth and legend. Known as the cold desert, Ladakh with its
rough & tough surroundings is a land like no other.
